SG8 is a postcode district in the SG postcode area of the United Kingdom, which is in the east of England. It covers most of South Cambridgeshire, including Buntingford, Royston, Melbourn, Ashwell and large parts of the surrounding countryside.

As a largely rural postcode area, SG8 is one of the most sparsely populated in the country. It is an area of unique countryside landscapes, small market towns and tranquillity. The hilly countryside with many winding country lanes is delightfully diverse, comprising golden crop fields, well-maintained woodlands, nature reserves, meadows and rivers.

Much of the area lies in the South Cambridgeshire district, which is well-connected by local roads and motorways. It is served by the A10, A505 and A1198 roads and M11 motorway, giving good access for commuters to the nearby towns and cities of Hertfordshire, Beds, Essex, and London. It also has excellent rail connections; the main line from London King's Cross to Cambridge stops in Royston and the West Anglia Main Line runs through the area.

Royston and Buntingford are the main towns in the area with local retail and services, while the small, picture-perfect village of Ashwell is known as ‘the jewel of Hertfordshire' and has a thriving local community.

There is a selection of popular attractions in SG8. Knebworth House and Gardens are a major draw, as is the Prince of Wales Brass Rubbing Centre in Royston. The area also boasts the regional museum, a theatre, and a variety of historic buildings.

In addition, there are numerous nature reserves, like the Nuthampstead RSPB Reserve, and excellent places to take part in outdoor activities, such as Cerney House Garden and Water Park and Panshanger Country Park.

Education is well-catered for too, with a range of public and private schools, and colleges for further education. The various villages and towns in the area also offer many choices for leisure activities, with lots of pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafés to visit.

SG8 is a beautiful part of the East of England, with attractive countryside, captivating towns and many things to do. It's an idyllic place to settle down and enjoy the rural life.
