Winnersh is a large village with a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants located near the junction of the M4 motorway and the A329(M). It is home to Winnersh Triangle Business Park, one of the largest business parks in the region with companies such as Microsoft, HP, Oracle and Siemens located there. The area also features Winnersh Triangle Railway Station and the Winnersh Farm Shopping Centre, which provide good connections between Winnersh and Reading.

Lower Earley is the largest housing estate in the postcode, located to the east of Winnersh, and is made up of both suburban housing estates and also large detached properties. Lower Earley also features the Readibus Charity offering free transport links into central Reading as well as some of the most popular public open spaces in the area.

Shinfield is made up of the civil parishes of Shinfield and Spencers Wood and is located to the north west of Winnersh and Lower Earley. There are local pubs, shops and a football club located in the area. It is also within close proximity to the University of Reading, with regular buses serving the area.

The RG41 postcode has a population of 19,449 as of 2017. It has a higher than average level of employment compared to the rest of the country and significantly high levels of owner occupied dwellings.
