RG40 is serviced by two main roads, the A329 that runs north-south and the M4 motorway which runs east-west. Through the postcode district, the Thames-Side Walkway has a route which links the villages of Earley and Lower Earley, and all the way into the outskirts of Reading.

RG40 has ample aerospace and technology parks, such as the Thames Valley Science Park in Earley. These parks are home to a wide range of companies such as HP, Credit Suisse and Oracle.

Schools in the district include St. tenants Primary School, Maiden Erlegh Secondary School, The Willink School as well as a number of other primary and secondary schools.

Shopping amenities in the RG40 postcode district include supermarkets such as Sainsbury's and Tesco and smaller retail shops in the villages of Lower Earley and Earley. There are a number of available leisure facilities such as gyms, sports clubs and swimming pools.

RG40 is an area of green spaces, with local reserves such as Lower Earley Local Nature Reserve, which is an area of semi-woodland with numerous walking trails. Other parks include Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve, Carlile Park, Cutbush Green, Loddon Nature Reserve and Whiteknights Park. Nearby larger reserves include Swinley Forest and Crowthorne Woods.

RG40's postcode is serviced by a number of bus routes and the nearest train station is Earley. Reading West train station is the closest main line service, which takes approximately 15-20 minutes by car.

All in all, the RG40 postcode district is a great place to live, with a great number of technology companies, a wide range of recreational activities and plenty of green spaces to enjoy.
