The local schools in the RG18 area are of a generally good to very good standard, due to Pangbourne College which is a renowned independent coeducational boarding and day school for pupils aged 11-18. Furthermore, there are other recognised primary and secondary schools nearby, such as Basildon Primary School and Pangbourne Primary School.

The area is well regarded for its countryside feel, despite it being so close to the hustle and bustle of Reading town centre. There are plenty of greenspaces and nature reserves within the area, such as Theale Lakes Nature Reserve which is a beautiful area consisting of grassland and wetland habitats.

The area is also close to River Thames, which is a great place for walking and cycling alongside the riverside. There are some lovely canoeing and sailing clubs along the river, such as the South Oxford Sailing Club. The area is popular with downsizers and retirees, as they can use the nearby riverside amenities or enjoy the countryside feel of the area.

The local shops and services in the RG18 area are of a decent standard, having small local convenience stores, takeaways, public houses and banks in nearby Pangbourne Village. There are also regular bus services to nearby Reading or to local towns and villages.
