Places of interest within the postcode area include the Spaceport visitor centre, Cunningham Park, Southport Pier and Birkdale Golf Course. The area is also renowned for its independent schools and educational establishments, many of which have been awarded 'Outstanding' ratings for their quality of learning.

Southport is the host of numerous annual festivals and prides itself on its vibrant nightlife. Some of the places to visit for a night out include Bar2, The Wonder Inn, the Comedy Club, and the Southport Theatre. Various music events have been held here, including the Southport Rhythm and Blues All-Dayers, the Southport International Jazz Festival, and most recently the Southport Weekender Beach Party.

The town centre is well-connected, with a railway station and frequent buses. The nearest motorway is the M58 and the closest airport is Manchester International Airport.

Southport is a popular place to live and also a great place for day trips. With its sandy beaches, bustling town centre, and plenty of attractions, the PR8 postcode has something to offer everyone.
