Lastly, the University of Central Lancashire is the largest university in the area and was founded in 1828 as the Institution for the Diffusion of Knowledge. It is a popular choice among international students and in recent years has grown to become one of the best universities in the North West.

The PR1 postcode also offers amenities such as supermarkets, cafes, banks, restaurants, and parks and is home to several churches. It is well connected with the local transport network, including regular rail and bus services to other towns and cities. As Preston is located less than an hour away from Manchester and Liverpool, it is easy to get to the larger cities from PR1.
