Corby also serves as a major transport hub connecting the rest of Northamptonshire, and beyond, with its numerous train stations and regular bus service.

The rural villages of Geddington, Middleton and Tachbrook, in the south of NN17, are much smaller and quieter than Corby. However, they are still well-connected by bus services and regular train services to Corby, as well as frequent services to the nearby towns of Kettering and Desborough. The villages possess a range of local amenities, such as pubs, takeaways, convenience stores and small businesses.

NN17 is home to numerous primary and secondary schools, including Northants School, which has consistently been rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. The postcode also encompasses several parks, such as Rockingham Forest, providing plenty of green spaces for locals to enjoy.
