It also has good public transport connections to the South of England, with buses connecting Teeside and Tyne & Wear.

In terms of education, the area is well served, with the University of Newcastle having a campus nearby, as well as the City of Newcastle College and several excellent secondary schools. In addition, there are a number of primary schools, many of which have outstanding Ofsted ratings.

The area is home to a number of businesses and organisations, such as the Baring Foundation, the Visitor Centre, Newcastle City Council and the Newcastle College. There is a large variety of eateries, pubs and cafes as well as a range of retail stores for everyday shopping and leisure. There are also plenty of leisure activities such as walking routes, cycle paths and beautiful parks, as well as a good range of local services including banks, post offices and hairdressers.
