Public transport is provided by the `Tyne and Wear Metro', `Go North East', and `Arriva North East' bus services who provided regular services to destinations around Newcastle upon Tyne.
The area is popular with families due to its excellent primary and secondary schools, including Benton Dene Primary School, Longbenton Community College and Walker Technology College. The town has two parks to enjoy, Benton Park and Belgrave Square, as well as the nearby Denton Park Golf Course. There is also a leisure centre, swimming baths, and other sports and recreational facilities including Pitch and Putt.
Perhaps the biggest attraction in the area is the nearby Tynemouth market which is held at the weekend in the beautiful coastal village of Tynemouth. The market is a great place to grab some food, take a browse at local antiques, or even just enjoy the hustle and bustle of the traders.
For those that want to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, the area includes many opportunities for walking, cycling or even horse riding. There are some lovely parks and gardens in the area to explore such as Seaton Sluice Country Park and Beal Country Park. There is also a great selection of family friendly restaurants and pubs.
All in all, NE22 postcode is a great area for those looking for a pleasant and family friendly environment situated slightly away from the hustle and bustle of central Newcastle, but with a myriad of attractions and facilities to enjoy.
