The rivers that wind through the area bring much pleasure and greenery. Anglers, canoeists, and cyclists can be found enjoying the peace and plenty of wildlife that the area has to offer.

The area offers amenities such as primary and secondary schools, a library, churches, community centre, leisure pursuits, hospital, police station, and park. The nearest railway stations are Rainham and Gillingham. There are good links to London by road and bus.

The ME8 postcode covers the village of Upnor, located on the riverside near Chatham. The village is popular with tourists and boasts a castle, strong links to the seafaring industry and many historical sites of interest.

The Cuxton area is a civil parish that encompasses several small villages and hamlets. It is a rural area home to numerous farms, and is popular with walkers. Cuxton has many attractive views and a smattering of pubs, churches, and local shops.

Eccles, like many of the other villages in the postcode district, is rural with picturesque views and wildflowers in abundance. There are plenty of traditional pubs, a grocery store and a tea room in Eccles.

All three of the villages offer various cultural activities, clubs and societies, making them great places to experience the best of local heritage.
