Electric Avenue - immortalized in the Eddy Grant song - is located in the district, as is the house where Beatles songs were written, and in nearby Bloomsbury, is the former home of Virginia Woolf, George Orwell and other prominent figures.

The area is well served with regard to infrastructure, enjoying the convenience of a dozen or so train stations and Underground lines, making it easy to get around. The area also boasts a well-established bus system and a number of parks, squares and gardens saturated with history.
