The main area it covers is East Dulwich, a residential area located two miles south of central London.
The area has several parks and green spaces, such as Goose Green, Dulwich Park, Peckham Rye Common, Sydenham Hill Woods, Hilly Fields, and Myatts Field. There is a lively nightlife with a variety of restaurants, pubs and bars, as well as multiple music and comedy venues. The area has good public transport links, with several Underground, bus and tram stops, as well as an Overground station.
The area is home to many different ethnicities, with a significant population of people of African and Caribbean descent, as well as people of Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian and Chinese origin. There are numerous primary and secondary schools in the area, rated good or better by Ofsted, and some high achieving ones such as Alleyn's, Dulwich College, and Kingsdale.
In terms of housing, the area contains a mix of larger houses, Victorian terraces, 1970's housing estates, and modern apartment blocks. It is also home to mews houses, small cottages and townhouses, as well as a few large, converted chapels and other historically listed buildings. There's a large variety of property available in SE22, including high-end townhouses and apartments, as well as more affordable housing.
The area also contains a number of independent shops, cafes and boutiques, as well as larger chain stores. Buses lead to Camberwell, Central London, and both the Elephant and Castle and East Croydon stations, making it a great place for commuters. The area is popular with young professionals and families, and is seen as a desirable place to live in London.
