Its retail offering is packed with a vast array of independent shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs and convenience stores, as well as larger chains such as Pret a Manger and Anchor & Hope Fish & Chips.

The postcode is well connected, with several main thoroughfares weaving through it, such as Farringdon Road and Goswell Road, as well as numerous Tube and bus stations close by, making it easy to access local amenities and travel into the rest of London. The area is served by Farringdon Station, Barbican Station and St Paul's Station, all on the London Underground's Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines.

The area is popular with professionals and students, with local universities such as Central Saint Martins, The University of Westminster, and The City University London located nearby.
