Transport links in the area include the Jubilee Line in the London Underground network, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway, and numerous bus routes, making the E14 an easy-to-access area.

The E14 is populated by diverse ethnic backgrounds, including Bangladeshi, Vietnamese, Chinese, Somali, African/Caribbean, and Pakistani. English is used as the main language, which is then accompanied with a range of foreign dialects.

The area is noted for its rich cultural history, within its boundaries lie the historic Chinatown district, into which began settling Chinese immigrants in the 1950s. Much of the entertainment life of the district is based in Limehouse, which also has a number of stunning listed buildings, including the iconic Victorian warehouse building, Limehouse Cut, which now houses two theatres.

For shopping and leisure, the E14 postcode offers a variety of shopping centres, including Chrisp Street Shopping Centre and Crossharbour. There are also a number of art galleries, coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs. The Museum of London Docklands, located in West India Quay, is another popular landmark of culture and heritage, as well as being a centre for education and interactive galleries.

The beautiful outdoor parks in the district offer plenty of breathing space from the hustle and bustle of the city, including Garden of Remembrance in Millwall Park, Shadwell Basin Offsite, and Limehouse Cut Nature Park. The E14 is also home to a number of sports clubs and centres, including rowing, cricket, football, and swimming.
