LA15 is in the official UK travel-to-work area of North West England and is serviced by the A590 road. It is within commuting distance of Lancaster and Kendal, meaning that it is an ideal destination for those seeking a rural retreat with access to larger cities. The nearest train station is Ulverston, which offers regular links to Manchester and Barrow-in-Furness.

Education in the area is provided by the Ulverston Victoria High School, Rusland Primary School, Finsthwaite Primary School, and Broughton-in-Furness Primary School. Shops can be found in the nearby towns of Ulverston and Broughton-in-Furness, with supermarkets located in the local villages.
