Chessington and Hook are two of the most prominent neighbourhoods in the KT5 postcode, with a large concentration of businesses, shops and restaurants. Chessington World of Adventures, a popular theme park which also happens to be a film location for Hollywood movies, is located in the postcode. Chessington Zoo is another major attraction in KT5, as is Sandown Park racecourse.

Hook is a smaller neighbourhood in the KT5 postcode. Despite its size, it is known for its impressive number of pubs, convenience stores and gardens, and for the Hook Thameside Nature Reserve, an area of stunning natural beauty.

KT5 is a suburban neighbourhood, a mix of both commercial and residential. The postcode has decent transport links to the rest of London, with 5 bus routes, the A3 road, the Chessington South train station, and two London Underground stations located nearby.

The KT5 postcode also offers excellent educational opportunities, with two primary schools, Chessington Community College, Chessington Veterinary College, and Richmond upon Thames College all within its boundaries.
