Chessington is a small suburban area located predominantly in the KT3 postcode area, although its bordering postcode areas are KT9 and KT10. The district consists of many thriving and growing educational, healthcare and leisure establishments, and a large local residential community complete with public open spaces, parks, and recreational amenities.

Hook Rise is a residential area located towards the centre of KT3. It is known mainly for its large nature reserve, which is host to a variety of wildlife habitats. The area is also home to the Hook Rise North Golf Course, which is the largest golf course in the south London area.

Housing in the KT3 area ranges from modern apartments to characterful Victorian villas. The area also has a large collection of protected buildings, many parks and areas of open space. Local schools include St Joseph's Roman Catholic Primary School, Chessington Community College and Tolworth Girls' School, amongst others.

Economically, the district is serviced by bus services provided by London United, with routes to many neighbouring districts and further afield. Kingston railway station can also be found in the borough which is served by South West and Southern trains. Tower Transit also operates the 465 route which runs daily, linking Kingston and Hampton Court.

This postcode area is home to a variety of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as several iconic pubs and establishments. Annual festivals, such as the Tolworth Show, take place in various areas, and are supported and attended by locals and tourists alike.
