Speed of traffic. Traffic mounting pavement and running over pavement - super dangerous., 15th March
The road from Parker’s Lane to Rectory Lane is a rat run for cars and lorries. I have counted over 500 cars using this lane in one morning this week. The road already has signs saying not suitable for lorries. Which they all ignore. The limit is 30 which is ridiculous. There are two 90 degree bends. It should be 20 or less….. two schools. Two bad bends. Narrow lane. And already signs in place poorly positioned and totally ignored. A skip lorry and an suv have both gone through a wall on the one 90 degree bend this month alone. The traffic and suvs use this as a rat run to avoid the main road. From 5am - 10am and from 4pm - 7pm. It is busier than the main road in fact. And not a suitable riad for the volume at all. There are two schools on this route. This week. - two cars have mounted the pavement. One nearly hitting me as I came out my house. The other nearly hitting a pram! It is a death trap. No one is driving at the limit. It’s a single track lane. Not suitable for lorries or SUV’s. The cars are dangerous - an accident waiting to happen. I believe that one person was knocked off their bike recently. I hope they reported this ? Please please please can we have some traffic reducing or calming scheme. Plus better signage? Plus some formal monitoring of the volume of traffic over a 4 week period outside of the school holidays ? The whole area is very dangerous. A tragedy is waiting to happen here. I have reported this already to the local authority. Nothing has been done. Are they waiting for a person to be killed by the traffic before something is done!! Can we get speed bumps. A 20 mile per hour zone. Plus gates that narrow the road ? Or schemes to calm the traffic - anything is better than the current situation? Traffic police ? Please please before something happens. We beg you ! There are lots of families here. Small children. School zone. No pavements. Poor lighting. And traffic going much too fast and too many cars throughout the day and night.
