Framlingham is a market town located within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is home to the Grade-I listed Framlingham Castle, which dates back to circa 1200s and is open to the public for visits. Woodbridge is an idyllic riverside town, positioned on the River Deben. The town provides a charming range of gifts and independent shops to peruse, as well as a variety of restaurants and pubs for residents and visitors alike. Wickham Market, additionally, is a small, rural village located between Woodbridge and Ipswich, and is renowned for its small village centre with multiple shops and winding country lanes.
Saxmundham is situated further inland, and is a popular spot for visitors to the area, as it has held occasional markets since the 1200s that are still selling local produce today. The town is also known for its ecclesiastical history, with Leiston Abbey – a 14th Century Augustinian abbey – and Hacheston Church just outside the town situated within the postcode boundary.
In terms of leisure, IP23 is well-placed for outdoor lovers, with places such as Snape Maltings, Ufford Park Woodbridge Hotel & Golf Club, and RSPB Minsmere all close by. Further afield, there are a range of attractions including Bury St Edmunds and Easton Farm Park, as well as popular seaside spots such as Aldeburgh and Southwold.
In terms of transport, IP23 is served by regular bus services, as well as rail connections in Woodbridge and Saxmundham. Lowestoft is also just an hour away by car, offers further transport links if needed.
