This postcode includes the villages of Chigwell and Lambourne End and the Club Langley athletics complex located between Chigwell and Abridge. It is also the home base of the remaining Round Table restaurant which is managed by the National Trust.

The area was home to many Victorian and Edwardian buildings, including the old Chigwell Grammar School, which was partly demolished in 2014.

The area offers good transport links with the Central Line of the London Underground, bus routes running through Chigwell, Lambourne End, Woodford Green and Roding Valley Tube Station, offering direct access to Central London. Also, Chigwell Road connects the IG7 area with the M11 Motorway.

IG7 is a great place for leisure and home to Heritage Park, a large open green space with a variety of paths and open spaces suitable for walking and running. The local area also offers extensive lakes and streams as part of the neighbouring Roding and Epping Forest Valleys.

At Chigwell Golf Club, visitors can enjoy a golfing experience amongst wildlife. There are numerous shops located throughout Chigwell and the surrounding area, including a small cinema in the town centre. Children can make use of the outdoor play areas located in Chigwell and Woodford Green.

Additionally, IG7 is home to fine schools such as Beal High School, Newbury Park Primary School and Woodbridge High School. There is also a variety of churches within the postcode, including Chigwell Parish Church, St. Mary's, St. Paul's, and All Saints.

In 2018, IG7 was voted one of the top ten places to live in London and is known for its safe streets and welcoming community.
