The district has excellent motorway links to the rest of Yorkshire and the UK, with the M62 junction at Rishworth providing access to Manchester, Leeds and Bradford, and the M606 junction at Chain Bar providing access to Bradford and the East Midlands.

Suitable types of housing in HX2 range from stunning city centre apartments to imposing Victorian villas to modestly priced terraced homes. There is a good mix of independent shops and larger chain stores within the district. Halifax Library, Halifax Borough Market, and High Street Shopping Centre are all located in the heart of HX2.

The district is well-served by local and national bus and rail services. The Calderdale Way, an 8-mile footpath between Sowerby Bridge and Halifax, runs through parts of the HX2 postcode district.

Residents in the district benefit from good schools and hospitals, including Rastrick Independent School, St Hilda's CE Primary School, The Victoria Building Hospital, and The Calderdale Royal Hospital. The district provides a wide range of recreational and leisure activities, such as hiking, golf, and museums. The Piece Hall, Piece Hall Gardens and recently refurbished Shibden Valley Park are all popular places to visit.

There are a number of popular pubs, restaurants, and cafes located in the HX2 area, such as Tradesman's Arms, Waffle People, and The Sin Factory. Local parks also contain outdoor gyms, sports courts, and a bowling green.

The local crime rate is below the national average, making HX2 a safe and desirable residential area. There is also a thriving nightlife scene with nightclubs and bars located in the central parts of the district. In addition, there are a number of art galleries, theatres and music venues located in the HX2 postcode.
