The HX1 postcode covers an area which is mainly occupied by the city of Halifax in West Yorkshire, England. It lies to the west of nearby Bradford.

HX1 is a modern postal area in the UK, first introduced in 1997 after the towns in the Halifax borough were reorganized. It includes both urban and rural parts of the borough, and it is 17 miles southwest of the city of Leeds.

HX1 covers a fairly large geographical area. It extends from the town of Illingworth in the north, to Wadsworth in the east, Sowerby Bridge in the south, and Warley Town in the west. With a population of over 134,000, HX1 is the most populous postcode District in West Yorkshire.

HX1 is served by a variety of transport links. It is connected to Leeds and Bradford by the A581 road, while the M62 motorway passes through nearby Huddersfield and Dewsbury. The postcode is also served by the Halifax Kal Royal station of the Calder Valley Line – a branch of the TransPennine Express railway between Manchester and Leeds.

The area is home to a number of well-known landmarks, including the Piece Hall – an 18th-century cloth hall which is a popular tourist attraction. Other areas of importance within the HX1 include the pubs and clubs around Halifax town centre, the pioneering Piece Hall Green shopping centres, and the 19th century Dean Clough Industrial Museum.

HX1 is also home to a set of educational institutions including the Sir George Etchells Primary School, the Halifax High Academy, and the Halifax UTC.

Residents of HX1 are served by a number of leisure facilities, including Copley Leisure Centre which boasts a gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, sports hall, and squash courts. The 10-acre Victoria Park is also popular, and features two ponds, a miniature railway, and a children's adventure playground. There are several independent supermarkets in the postcode area, as well as art galleries, museums, and independent shops.

The postcode area is served by the local newspaper – The Halifax Courier – which has been in circulation since 1854.
