The G5 postcode is a postal area in the City of Glasgow in Scotland, administered by the Royal Mail. It covers Glasgow's Southern Inner City suburb of Pollokshields and previously covered a portion of the nearby Govanhill area. The postcode district is the G postcode area's most densely populated district.

The G5 postcode holds a great historic value as it is the most populous area in Glasgow City Council's Pollokshields ward. Pollokshields is considered to be one of Glasgow's oldest and most desirable residential quarters. It still maintains its distinct Victorian architecture, with sandstone tenements and grand Victorian houses. The area also contains an early 20th-century Art Deco-style Arches and Public Library, as well as the Grosvenor Cinema and numerous traditional independent shops, cafes, bakeries and restaurants.

The G5 postcode district is located South of Glasgow centre and is bordered by several other districts; namely, G41 postcode district to the North, G41 to the North East, G42 to the East and G40 to the South. It encompasses several primary roads and secondary streets, including Nithsdale Road, Kenmure Street, Queen's Drive and Claremont Street.

The area is well served by public transport with numerous bus services running throughout its length. Pollokshields East train station is situated in the G5 postcode district boundaries in the far south of the area, and it allows direct access to and from Glasgow Central and to Scotland's other major cities, such as Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The area also contains two Subway stops – Cessnock and Shields Road - and three Glasgow Underground stations – Gorbals, St Enoch and Buchanan Street.

Moreover, the postcode district is home to many parks and green space areas, such as Glasgow Green and Maxwell park. Pollok Country Park and Bellahouston Park are the nearest - both a few minutes away via car or bus - and are great parks where Glaswegians can enjoy walks, picnics, sports, drinks, and occasional concerts. The G5 postcode district is also home to many institutions of higher learning – such as the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian University, and the University of Glasgow.
