The area has excellent transport links, with regular bus services from the city centre and Leith to other parts of the city. It is also well served by two main train stations, Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket, both of which provide excellent connections with the rest of the country. Finally, an extensive cycle lane network provides easy access to the city centre.

In terms of schooling, there are several local primary schools, secondary schools, and a few independent schools in the area. Additionally, Telford College offers further education and vocational courses, giving local residents access to higher education courses.

As an area, the EH6 postcode is largely residential, with some areas having seen considerable gentrification in recent years. That said, it is a lively and vibrant area with something for everyone, from young professionals to students and families alike.
