Other towns and villages within the postcode area have a more rural and agricultural character, such as Middleton, which is a linear settlement along the road between Loanhead and Romanno Bridge. The village of Romanno Bridge is located on the River Tyne and home to a beautiful bridge dating back to 1720. It is also known for its “tappit hen” a carved stone structure situated outside the local pub.

The EH55 postcode boasts a variety of leisure activities and attractions, with historical sites such as Rosslyn Chapel as well as Humbie Reserve, which offers walks within natural surroundings and provides a great opportunity for outdoor activities.
