EH39 is a postcode located in the Edinburgh district of Scotland and covers a large area of the East Lothian region. It is comprised of western parts of Musselburgh, Wallyford, Tranent and Elphinstone as well as all of Whitecraig. The postcode was introduced in 1996 when Royal Mail decided to modernise the UK's postcode system.

The area covered by the EH39 postcode is mostly rural, with ample opportunity for outdoor activities. The coast is a popular spot for fishing, kayaking and swimming, whilst the nearby countryside offers a variety of hiking, mountain-biking and horse riding routes. There are also historical sites such as the sieges of Prestonpans, themes parks such as Musselburgh Racecourse and Pattieson's Farm Park and, of course, many famous golf courses in the area.

The area surrounding EH39 contains many small villages such as Macmerry, Gullane, Drem and Athelstaneford, each offering unique places to check out. Over the years these areas have become popular places to visit or live. Gullane has beautiful sandy beaches and is home to the Muirfield golf course, Drem has a stunning road bridge across the Firth of Forth and Macmerry is known for its traditional pubs and traditional fruit farms.

EH39 is served by two railway stations, Prestonpans and Wallyford, both of which offer direct services to Edinburgh city centre. Along with these, there are also a number of bus services, including the X19 from alongside Musselburgh Racecourse to Edinburgh, and the 101 from Haddington to Macmerry. In terms of education, the postcode has two primary schools, Elphinstone Primary and Musselburgh Burgh Primary, plus secondary schools such as Musselburgh Grammar School and Preston Lodge High School.

Over the past few years, the number of new homes being built in the area around EH39 has been steadily increasing. From executive detached houses to apartment complexes, the area is becoming increasingly attractive to home buyers. This is due to its location, with easy access to the city centre, its plethora of local amenities such as shops, bars and restaurants, and strong transport connections.
