Currie is a somewhat rural village, located in the western edge of EH29. It has a popular golf course and several pubs, as well as a handful of local shops for essentials. There's a shopping centre located at nearby Balerno and a range of amenities, including banks, post offices, parks, and several restaurants.

Oakbank in the EH29 postcode is a popular residential area, and has a wide selection of shops, public houses, and cafes. It also has some large green spaces, with Water of Leith Walkway running along the south side, offering a tranquil setting for a stroll.

The EH29 postcode is well connected, with several bus routes running through the area, and an array of excellent transport links to other parts of Edinburgh. Edinburgh Airport, the city centre, and other popular tourist destinations, such as Leith Docks and Arthur's Seat, are all easily accessible.
