Maryfield is a predominantly residential area with a range of amenities such as a local supermarket, a community centre and a church. Its main arterial road is Maryfield Road which runs east to west and links it to the city centre. Overgate is a bustling neighbourhood, notably for its independent shops, a big Asian supermarket, and the DCA (Dundee Contemporary Arts) centre. Hilton is a largely residential area with a range of amenities, some of which are still in use today, including a disused railway station and a smithy. Dudhope is a lively area known for its vibrant nightlife, with an array of pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants. Coldside is a popular choice for young renters and student shared accommodation, with its close proximity to the University of Dundee and the city centre.

The area boasts a range of public transport options such as buses, taxis and trams which serve each of the neighbourhoods in DD10 and provide easy access to the city centre. Additionally, the postcode is blessed with a coastal park, Riverside Nature Park, which is perfect for stunning walks and bike rides along the river. A diverse range of recreational activities can be found in DD10 with various sports clubs, parks and leisure centres.

The area is home to a diverse range of people, from students and young families, to professional and older residents. The local community is active in their positive promotion of selected charities. DD10 also has a range of Jobcentre Plus and other youth support services to assist in finding employment and procuring resources.
