DG6 is a postcode in Dumfries, a district located in the southwest corner of Scotland. It was established in 1891 and the area is rural with a few small towns and villages. DG6 covers the Annandale south area and numerous surrounding villages in the United Kingdom including, Tynron, Glencairn, Moniaive, Glendinning, Hoddom, Durisdeer, Carronbridge, and Kirkconnel.

Tynron is a small village in the region and is a traditional agricultural community. The village dates back to the 13th century when it was first established and is home to a number of attractions such as Tynron Doon and the Doon Valley Countryside Park. Glencairn is also located in the region and is a hamlet situated on the banks of the River Esk. The village is well known for its golf course, which was established in 1890 and the ruins of the old castle that were built in the 15th century. Moniaive is a large village in the district and is located on the A76 which is a major route along the northern coast of Scotland. The medieval origins of the village can be found in the old castle ruins and many of the buildings in Moniaive have listed status.

Glendinning is another small village in the DG6 postcode region and is a farming community located near the River Annan. The Hoddom Castle Estate, a privately owned estate, dominates the area and is a popular tourist attraction. Durisdeer is a village located on the A702, a major route that links Edinburgh and Glasgow to the North of Scotland. A number of interesting sites can be found in the area such as the old railway trestle bridge built in the late 19th-century, and the Durisdeer Parish Church.

Carronbridge is a small village in the area and is known for its traditional agricultural and industrial history. Buildings of note in the village include the old Carronbridge school house and Allanton Old Church which was built in 1644 and also hosts an annual Highland Games in August. Kirkconnel is the last village located in the postcode and is an old mining village. The old station building, goods yard, and signal boxes remain from the former railway line that connected the town to Carlisle. There are also several attractions in and around Kirkconnel including the Enoch Hill Windmill, Drum Hill, and the Hetlox Sculpture Path.
