FIXMYSTREET IN DG11 3HA
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of DG11 3HA:
Several lethal potholes ignored for more than 10 months, 3rd September
Several lethal potholes along a stretch of the Craigshaws to Waterbeck road which have been there for more than 10 months. They were marked with yellow spray several months ago but never mended and are highly dangerous. My neighbour tells me his car has a ruined wheel from one of these potholes and on 2nd September, I heard loud bang to find a nearly new Goodyear All Seasons tyre had a large blister in the side wall making my car undriveable. Cost to me; missing an important medical appointment and a likely cost of over £200 to get the tyre replaced. I will be writing to my MP and the local papers to highlight this dereliction of duty by the local council. The roads are ruined by constant heavy tractors and trailers and Grange HGV lorries hurtling up and down this narrow back road. These companies should be heavily taxed for ruining the roads with their vehicles.

Salt Gritting Container, 10th January
Hello I am concerned that salt spillage from the above container left earlier will corrode my "plastic" domestic water supply pipe which runs down the verge from the main due to seepage through the soil as it runs under it.I removed two shovels full left lying on the grass! The container really needs to be a little further up the hill where the road is out of the sun closer to the bend which does get icy and on the other side of the road where there is a wider verge. The lower part opposite the container gets a lot of sun and is not normally a problem.I would be pleased if you would re-site it.

Crack in bridge parapet, 24th February
A crack has appeared in the bridge on the B722. Locals believe it's due to the amount of heavy traffic now using that bridge as the result of a diversion. It was reported to Dumfries and Galloway Council but nothing has yet been done. The bridge is located over the playground of Hottsbridge Primary School.

Extremely degraded road surface, 24th January
Summary Location C61A from B722 at Waterbeck to B7068 Near Dunnabie Map Location: 324980 , 578029 Details Road condition Poor surface condition Fault description: the wagons from Grange Quarry use that road (illegally - I know that they obtained planning consent for "5 or 6" wagons a day. There are days when there are at least 100 40 tonne trucks tearing up and down that road" This road is meant for horses and carts, not heavy goods vehicles Location description: The C61A from Waterbeck village centre towards carruthers farm is ***shocking**** Absolutely appalling. Every 6 months someone comes out and spends 30 minutes patching it then 1 week later it's as bad. there are potholes and a degraded surface aover all of the 4 - 5 kms of that stretch of road. Especially bad (and I know this because I have to try to drive over it two or three times daily) is the 150 metres or so just past the end of speed limit sign leaving the village on that road. It's virtually impassable and it's impossible to navigate the huge loose parts of road surface, pot holes etc without jarring the car. It's necessary to weave back and forwards across the road to avoid damaging the car. This is often a hazard to other road users. Contact Name: Henry Race
