The postcode area also includes Chard Reservoir, a large body of water, and several nature reserves in the area, including Crewkerne Pine Hill, Hawkchurch Nature Reserve and Upwey Wood.
DT8 is home to several notable landmarks, such as the ruins of Forde Abbey in Chard, the Petherton Park in South Petherton, the historic buildings in Beaminster Square, and the Grade-II listed buildings in Bridport.
The towns and villages in the postcode area are served by several bus routes connecting to nearby towns, as well as a railway station in Crewkerne. There are also regular ferries between Lyme Regis and Bridgewater, and flights to London from Exeter Airport.
Finally, the DT8 postcode area is connected to the M5 motorway, which runs from Exeter to Birmingham. It is also home to a number of major roads such as the A303 and the A30, which provide access to the south coast and Devon.
