The main area within the postcode district is bordered to the east by the River Ouse and to the west by the M180 motorway. The district is also bordered by the neighbouring DN14 and DN15 postcode districts.

According to the 2011 census, there are 5,652 households in DN32, with an average household size of 2.35 people. The district has good transport links, with access to the M180 motorway just to the west and access to the nearby railway stations at Finningley, Goole and Gilberdyke, providing regular services to Leeds, Hull, Doncaster and beyond. The town of Goole is a fairly typical small Yorkshire Russell port town, steeped in maritime history, with the nearby size of Goole docks providing an important base for freight transportation to and from the ports of Hull and Grimsby.

Education-wise, DN32 has a number of primary schools in the area, as well as Arksey Primary School and Westwoodside Primary School. These cater to the local population and the local secondary schools are also in the area, such as Royal Rise Academy, Outwood Academy, and Goole Academy. Further education options are provided by Doncaster College, a part of the Sheffield Colleges Group, and the nearby University of Hull.

In terms of leisure and culture, the DN32 postcode area has a variety of activities and attractions, such as the Hook Wildlife Centre, a 50-acre nature park and conservation area, and Goole Leisure Centre. The town also has several museums, including the Yorkshire Waterways museum, the Hull and East Riding War memorial, and the Goole Museum, the latter of which houses a collection of artifacts from the town's maritime past. Additionally, the district also has several sports clubs, including Goole AFC, the town's football team, and Goole Cricket Club.

Lastly, there are several shopping opportunities in the area, with the town centre hosting an indoor market and a range of shops, including retail outlets and two supermarkets. The local area also boasts a variety of smaller shops, such as the high-street fashion stores Armani Exchange and Jigsaw, as well as independent local stores.
