DN2 is located next to Clayton, a neighboring area in the borough of Doncaster. It is bound by Balby to the north, Hexthorpe and Highfields to the east, Wheatley Hills to the south and Hyde Park and Intake to the west. DN2 encompasses an area of 4.2 square miles and a population of approximately 11,500 people.

The area has good transport links, including the M18 motorway network which runs from Doncaster to Sheffield, and is close to Doncaster International Airport. DN2 has excellent bus links, with services to Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham, Hull and other nearby cities. The A1 road is close by and can be used to access other parts of the country.

The area is home to Wheatley Park sports centre, one of the most popular leisure facilities in the region. There is also Coulman Street Park, located in the center of the postcode area. It contains a children's play area, two tennis courts and a football pitch.

In terms of education, DN2 has two primary schools: Wheatley Primary School and Bentley West Primary School. The area also has an academy, Armthorpe Academy, which educates students aged 11 to 16. Doncaster college and the University of Sheffield are both close by.

DN2 contains a number of shops, supermarkets, takeaways, pubs and restaurants as well as other local businesses. There is a major retail park located in the centre of the postcode and a shopping centre nearby.

There are a number of places of worship in DN2, including St. Michael's Church, St Peter in Chains Church and Bentley Methodist Church. The Library of Doncaster is also located in DN2, providing access to books, DVDs, audiobooks, public computers and more.
