The postcode area begins to the south at the junction of the A38 (Burton Road) with the A52 (Derby Road) and stretches north to the junction of the A38 (Derby Road) at Repton Road.

The postcode has two major towns in its boundaries, the larger being the market town of Burton-upon-Trent and the smaller being the rural village of Hoar Cross. As well as this urban area, the code covers several other settlements across rural Derbyshire.

There are several amenities in the area including a variety of shops, takeaways, pubs, restaurants, and leisure facilities. There are also several primary and secondary schools both in Burton and Hoar, continuing education, and health centres in the vicinity.

There is excellent access to motorways and major roads in the area which links the area with Derby, Birmingham, and the rest of the East Midlands. The nearest train station is Burton-on-Trent which has regular connections to Derby, Leicester, and Birmingham. The East Midlands Airport is also only 11 miles away.

The postcode area includes a number of parks and green spaces. This includes Shobnall Fields, which was redeveloped in 2008 and is home to several sports pitches and activity areas, as well as sensory and sensory gardens. It also includes a BMX track, bowling green, skate park, and small lake with a playground. The Markeaton Park offers great recreation facilities and includes a large children's playground, animal farm, golf course, tree adventure trail, swimming pool, miniature railway, rowing lake, and more.

The area has a number of places of historical interest, including the Grade I listed All Saints' church in Burton and the Grade II listed Burton Abbey. The Burton-on-Trent museum has a wide range of exhibits, including archaeological finds, local history, and a battleground.

The area is also home to the world renowned National Brewery Centre, which is one of only two places in the world where visitors can experience a fully operational brewery. As well as this, the local waterways have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and attract a large variety of birds and other wildlife.

The area is a great place to live and work with lots of opportunities and activities available to explore. It is a place of historical and industrial interest, boasting some fantastic sights and attractions.
