No salt heaps along entire Macey Bank road. School route., 13th January
For some reason no salt heaps were left along the entire Macey Bank road this winter. The bottom junction with Calthwaite road is particularly dangerous as rainwater accumulates here and turns to sheet ice. There is no salt heap to spread on the road. This is a school run route to Ivegill school and an access route to Southwaite services for locals. Highways neglecting to do their job again or was this road forgotten this year?

Problem reported last month. Within a few days quickset was shoved in the hole as a quick fix. Original complaint warned that this problem would continue to occur unless underlying drain collapse resolved. Still no salt or grit in southwaite, 12th January
Usually Highways provide grit and salt in October - ahead of Winter. This did not happen again this year - and was reported two months ago. There is a highway fault at the junction with Wreay Road - water issuing out of the carriageway after it has rained - this was also reported two months ago. When we get frosts - this junction will be a skating rink! At least this is a matter of public record and in the event of any road traffic accident the evidence shows that the County Council has failed to act!

The sign on the corner is twisted wrong way, from Calthwaite direction, when you approach the sign, it points straight on the 'Crown Inn' when it should point left.Obviously, the other direction signs on the same post are also pointing wrong way.Been like it for a few months.Seems like it has been hit by a tall vehicle or tractor.
