The village of Egremont is home to several attractions including the Lord's rare breeds centre, an animal sanctuary established in 1986, and the local Crab Fair, an event which dates back to 1267 and still takes place every September.

The CA24 postcode also covers a number of rural villages such as Arlecdon, Distington, Millom, Salterbeck, Moor Row, Drigg, Seascale, Irton, and Pica.
