The area is served by Bridgend bus station which is the largest in South Wales, with regular links to Cardiff and Swansea. There is also access to the M4 motorway which allows easy access to the town for commuters.

The postcode is part of the Bridgend Local Government County Borough. Its economy is composed mainly of manufacturing, retail, and services. Tourism is also important, with the area close to the beautiful South Wales coast, as well as the beautiful Wales Coast Path and extensive mountain biking trails.

The area also boasts several recreational facilities such as Ogmore-front and a number of nature reserves, as well as Bridgend Golf Course.

Notable people from the area include basketball star Gareth McAlister, who was born in Llangynwyd, and actor Robert Pugh who was born in Blaencwm.

The postcode district has a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants, as well as coffee shops and boutiques in the local town centre.

CF33 is also home to the Welsh-medium comprehensive, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, which is one of the most successful Welsh Schools in the country, receiving many awards over the years.
