BS49 covers a wide area, stretching from Kenn to Nailsea, encompassing the village of Tickenham as well as the larger town of Clevedon. The postcode area is quiet and mainly residential but has some local shops, as well as cafes, pubs, restaurants and a seafront promenade.

There are numerous green spaces in and around Clevedon, including the beach, woodland areas, and a country park. For leisure activities, there is a golf course, sailing club, and an outdoor swimming pool, as well as local parks, walks, cycle paths and bridleways.

Transport links are good in the area, with direct rail links to Bristol and London Paddington, plus regular bus services to many of the nearby towns and villages.

Clevedon is an attractive area with numerous historic buildings, including Grade I and II listed buildings, a pier, an old windmill and the Curzon Cinema. The town also offers a wide range of amenities such as bereavement and carers' support services, plus a health centre, community centre and library.
