The postcode is bordered by the postcode areas of BS21 in the north, BS20 in the south-west, BS30 and BS41 in the south-east and BA3 in the east.

The area is mainly rural, home to many farms and agricultural businesses. However, it also includes some retail and industrial areas as well as some residential zones. The two large settlements of Congresbury and Yatton offer plenty of amenities including shops, restaurants, supermarkets, schools, pubs and leisure facilities such as swimming pools and sports facilities.

The villages in the BS25 postcode all have their own individual characteristics and identities. Congresbury is a well-connected village with excellent transport links to Bristol and beyond. Shipham is a historic village with a 13th century church at its centre. Axbridge has a picturesque high street and is home to a variety of independent shops.

Situated to the south of the postcode area is the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, an area of high scenic value. The hills have several areas of ancient woodland, limestone pavements and other interesting geological features. The region is very popular with walkers and other outdoor enthusiasts as it offers an abundance of natural beauty and wildlife.

In terms of education, the area is served by a number of primary schools, two of which include the well-regarded West Hill Park Primary School in Congresbury and the well-regarded Churchill Academy and Sixth Form in North Somerset. In addition, there is also a secondary school available in Yatton and two further-education colleges located in the nearby towns of Weston-super-Mare and Taunton.

The postcode area is served by the North Somerset Council which provides various services such as libraries, parks and leisure centres, recycling and refuse collection services as well as planning and building control departments.
