Tyersall Park is a 5 hectare public park, while Shipley Glen Tramway offers a picturesque ride up the hill to Shipley Glen Park. There are walking and cycling opportunities along the Leeds and Liverpool canal and the River Aire, while Bradford City Park offers a picturesque view of the city.

The BD8 district is also served by various transport links, with Eccleshill and Fagley connected to the railway network, and the Transdev operated Leeds-Bradford mainline linking it up to the surrounding cities. There is also a bus service offering regular links to Leeds, Wakefield, Harrogate, and other cities.

Education is a priority in the BD8 district, with Options Education Centre offering courses for both primary and secondary school pupils, and Bradford College, a further and higher education college, located in the area. There are also a number of nurseries and privately run schools which serve the local community.
