The area offers a number of leisure activities including cycling, walking and running. There are also two 9-hole golf courses located in Barley and Little Marsden.

In terms of transport links, the M65 and M61 motorways are located in close proximity to the BB9 area. This gives residents access to major cities and towns including Manchester, Leeds, Preston and Liverpool. In addition, local bus routes and a train station based in Nelson offer further transport links.

Secondary schools in the BB9 postcode district include Pendle Community High School, Brierfield Primary School, Colne Primet Academy and St Christopher's Church of England High School. Nelson and Colne College is located in the neighbouring BB9 postcode district.
