The B27 postcode is a postcode district that covers the area of Acocks Green and Shirley in south east Birmingham. It is a mainly residential area, although there is commercial activity in the form of shopping areas, small businesses and factories. It is bounded by the A41 to the northeast and the M6 to the south.

Acocks Green is a primarily middle-class suburban area, with houses mainly dating from the 1930s and 1940s, as well as some more modern developments. Acocks Green Village is the main shopping centre of the district, with a range of shops, takeaways and cafes. There are also many large green spaces in the area, including Hall Road Park, Springfield Park and Acocks Green Recreation Ground.

Shirley is a mainly suburban area, and the St James Retail Park is the main shopping area, with supermarkets, shops and restaurants. The area has a mixture of older housing, some of which dates back to the 18th century, along with some more modern developments.

The B27 postcode is also home to one of the largest Sikh Temple in Europe, Gurdwara Guru Nanak Parkash. The temple covers 25 acres of land and is home to the Sikh Youth Birmingham Sikh Network, which provides educational, cultural and spiritual support to the Sikh community in Birmingham.

The area is served by three railway stations: Acocks Green, Shirley and Yardley Wood. There are also regular bus services providing links to Birmingham city centre, the surrounding suburbs and beyond.

In terms of education, there are several primary and secondary schools in the district, including Yardley Wood Primary School and Sixth Form College, which serves a large catchment area covering Yardly, Acocks Green and Shirley. As well as this, there is also a number of private schools in the area, including Akiva School, which provides Jewish education.

The B27 postcode area has a diverse population, with different cultures, nationalities and classes represented. There is a strong sense of community in the area, with local clubs and organisations serving a range of activities, interests and activities. It is also home to the Acocks Green Conservation Group, which is dedicated to protecting and preserving the area's historical and natural environment.
