It is also home to Omagh Theatre Company who perform Theatre in the civic centre. The area has a strong agricultural background having historically hosted two main agricultural shows - Omagh Show in July and the Omagh Show in August.

Ballygawley is home to the local primary school, Ballygawley Primary School and an active community centre. Other elementary and secondary schools include Kilskeery Primary School, Drumlegagh Primary School, Killynure Primary School, Knockmoyle Primary School and Omagh Academy.

The other main towns within BT77 postcode include Gortin and Drumquin. Gortin is a traditional farming town distinguished by its limestone terraces and 19th-century churches. Drumquin is a small village located on a hillside close to the River Strule. It is around 10 miles from Omagh and includes an 18-hole golf course.

Other towns in BT77 postcode include Kilskeery, Kilsherry, Mullaghmore and Drumlegagh. Drumlegagh is a very small settlement on the border of the BT76 and BT77. Kilskeery is a small village close to the west of the BT77 postcode. Kilsherry is another small settlement located to the immediate south of Omagh. Mullaghmore is located to the north of the BT77 postcode and includes many hills and rivers.
