Carnmoney is a small suburban village located within BT47. It has a population of approximately 2000 people, and has some small business and retail outlets, including Carnmoney Parish Church which was established in 1838. It is home to a nature reserve, the Carnmoney Hill Conservation Reserve, as well as its own football and cricket clubs, along with a variety of sports clubs and activities.

Cloughfern is another urban area of BT47, located along the Lurganbrack stream. It is home to a few small shops, restaurants, and pubs, as well as a nursery and a medical centre. Nearby, there is a riverside park with a lake, and an 18-hole golf course.

Whitehead is a small coastal village located within the postcode. It has a population of around 5000 people, and is located between Carrickfergus and Larne on the east coast of more rural County Antrim. It is popular amongst visitors and locals due to its stunning coastal views, its refurbished pier, lively ancient Streets, the Greenisland nature reserve and views of the Abercorn mountain.

In terms of sport, there are several teams using the BT47 postcode, such as. Newtownabbey Strikers and Youth Football Club, and the Carnmoney Colts Youth Football Club, which play at various venues throughout the BT47 district.
