The area has its own championship golf course at Castlewellan, and also hosts the Castlewellan Mountain Bike Trails. Attractions such as the non-profit Dromara Village Museum also provide a great experience for visitors.

Education wise, BT26 is served by a number of schools, including Castlewellan Primary School, Molehill Primary School and Killard House Special School, as well as several secondary schools including Castlewellan High School and Lagan College.

The local area also has a range of excellent retail, leisure and entertainment facilities, with a number of local pubs and restaurants, as well as small local businesses such as Bridge Street Butchers and the Dromara Bakery, which serves some of the best fresh bread and cakes in the county.
