The area is served by the C-Link bus service, offering a direct connection from the postcode region to both Aberdeen and Fraserburgh. There is also the Aberdeen-Inverness bus service which also runs through the AB56 region, offering connections to the larger towns and cities east of the postcode region.

In terms of housing, the AB56 postcode area tends to have semi-detached and detached housing in Gardenstown, Crovie, Pennan, and in the scattered communities across the postcode. There is also a small number of rental homes and owner-occupied homes.
